In December, Kanye shared a track list for his new record (then titled “SWISH”), and told fans: “So happy to be finished with the best album of all time.”
The king of self-promotion, Kanye West, finally released his new album, “The Life Of Pablo”, on February 11th 2016. The hip hop king released a statement claiming the album to be “the greatest album in history”, but quickly retracted the comment, claiming on twitter that it is instead “one of the best albums – not the best, dedicating it to his idols.” Kanye listed rapper such as Q-Tip and Mary J Blige as his inspirations in his twitter post.
The comment caused controversy amongst viewers of Kanye’s post, with many saying the comments added to Kanye’s inflated ego.
Despite Kanye’s comments, producer Swizz Beatz recently spoke to Billboard magazine about the record in question. Having worked with Kanye on several tracks on the album, Swizz insisted fans are in for a treat when it’s released.
“It’s one of the best albums I heard him produce in a while. It’s a sound that I think is very enjoyable,” he said, “When you’re that popular, there’s gonna be a lot of noise but sometimes, we gotta put the headphones out, get away from that noise and really listen to the craft and I think that he has a great piece of work on his hands.”
It is safe to assume that this album will be another huge success for West, who is easily one of the most consistently brilliant artists of the last decade. We’ve been spinning “The Life Of Pablo” in the concept store since it’s dropped, so keep an ear out when you’re next in for a coffee for some hip hop goodness.
