If talking about MICE made you think of rodents tearing around the joint, I’m happy to say you have been gravely misled.
When us coffee folk talk about MICE we are referring to the Melbourne International Coffee Expo, held every year in March/April. It ties in with Melbourne Coffee Week (of course Melbournians get their own coffee week). This year MICE runs over the weekend of 30th March to 1st April at the Melbourne Showgrounds and is the largest coffee event in the Asia Pacific.
Anyone who’s anyone in coffee endeavours to embark on the annual migration. MICE aims to bring people together from around the world who work in the coffee industry to network, mingle and share ideas. It is a great way to build on the already thriving coffee community.
Among all the networking, partying, and coffee drinking, there is also some serious stuff to keep your eye on. The Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) host their coffee competitions such as the Aussie Barista Champs, Aussie Latte Art Champs, Aussie Brewers Cup, Cup Tasting Champs and Australia Coffee in Good Spirits Championship.
If you’re wanting a break from the non-stop coffee talk and tastes head over to the Tea Expo, presented by Australian Tea Masters. While tea has always been showcased at MICE, this year it’s getting some center stage action with its own Expo – Australian International Tea Expo – right next door to MICE. Check it out.
Our team is joining the annual MICE migration for 2017 – be sure to follow us on snapchat / instagram / facebook for LIVE feeds on all the action (and some behind the scenes antics no doubt). One of our own will be competing in the ASCA comps, make sure you don’t miss a second!
